The Kit Kat first hit the shelves in 1932 and has become a solid staple in candy bar lineups around the world. Recently you can find exotic Kit Kat flavors that are coming out of Japan, like melon with mascarpone and corn on the cob.
The demand for exotic Kit Kat flavors has risen to such extreme heights that Nestlé has built an entire factory to keep up with demand.
The new Kit Kat Dark is my go-to favorite right now. Structurally speaking, the dark chocolate is more solid than the milk chocolate, creating a better snap!
I don’t see the Kit Kat bar going out of style anytime soon, so no break for a Kit Kat just yet! Let's discuss some of the best ways to enjoy these chocolate marvels.
1) THE OG KIT
Of course the first way to eat a Kit Kat bar is to consume one bar at a time, no frills, just one by one and down the hatch. This form of enjoyment is usually best experienced on a porch, in a rocking chair, and staring off into the distance. A real cinematic way of eating a Kit Kat.
2) THE SIAMESE KAT
A personal favorite of mine is biting into a bar and then separating the individual layers of the bar in your mouth, and wait as they slowly disintegrate.
3) THE TWOFER
This is the act of breaking off two bars held together and consuming each half as one bar. I think this is rather aggressive, considering the delicate nature of a Kit Kat and the fact that there are 4 individual bars, makes the experience go by way too quickly.
4) THE DOUBLE STACK
This maneuver takes some skill. It’s the process of taking two bars and joining them. The first step is using your front teeth and like a surgeon, filet the top off of each stick and then join them. Some prefer to join the bottoms instead, either way it’s a unique experience.
5) THE MONSTER BITE
There are those few out there that choose to eat the Kit Kat like it’s just one big candy bar. That means taking the entire Kit Kat and eating it while all four bars are still together. I’ve done this on rare occasions and won’t find myself going back to the technique anytime soon.
6) THE SNAP AND DUNK
This technique is inspired by the famous chocolate chip cookie and milk pairing. Some of us Kit Kat aficionados need a glass of milk while enjoying the wonders of this candy bar.
7) THE HOT MELT
Don’t ask me why, but there are a few out there that choose to take their Kit Kat and place it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds. This maneuver melts the chocolate just enough, while keeping the wafer slides still firm. It can be a sensation just trying to bite and chew the bar as it slides open every which way in your mouth.
8) THE WALRUS
We’ve all seen it done: the classic move of placing two bars, one in each side of the mouth sticking down. It looks just like a walrus and some consumers even make noise and slap around before they realize they have a candy bar in their mouth.
9) THE KIT KATWICH
This is a rarity but one that must be attempted by all Kit Kat lovers out there. It’s making an ice cream sandwich but replacing the top and bottoms with entire Kit Kat bars. You can choose any flavor of ice cream, but I find vanilla to be a classic and pairs extremely will with a Kit Kat. My choice of Kit Kat is the new dark chocolate version, I find that it’s firmer and holds together better than the milk. Make sure to place your Kit Kat in the freezer for 30 minutes; this helps the Kit Kat to hold shape when biting into.
10) THE BELLE OF THE BALL
The Kit Kat can also be used as decorative piece. I have seen bakers use Kit Kats for the siding of their cakes. The Kit Kat also makes a fine addition to the occasional banana split.
